　　你已经出色地回答了其它所有问题，但是你是否清楚自己希望未来从事什么工作？你是否有自己的职业生涯远景？你是否真的需要MBA？为什么选择哈佛的MBA？　　

这个看似直接的问题可能是申请中最重要的也是最难回答的一个问题。你认为自己知道答案或者应该知道答案，但是当你坐下来准备诉诸笔端的时候，会发觉很难清晰表述你的职业计划以及MBA对你长远职业发展的重要性。开始就遇到的这些难题并不意味着你没有做好读MBA的准备，或者你不是哈佛商学院的优秀候选人。这个问题涉及到两个很棘手且很难说清楚的核心问题——你是谁?你追求的生活目标是什么?

　　必须首先明确你的个人目标——你希望如何改变你和你周围的世界。若要明确你的目标，你应该想清楚下面这些问题：什么能带给我快乐?什么是我的优点和缺点?什么是我最重要的价值观?先撰写其它五篇申请陈述应该有助于你集中思路。能够说出你做人的动力是把这篇文章写成功的关键。否则，整篇文章会显得没有感染力和缺乏激情。

　　My immediate goal after getting an MBA is to continue working for a global consulting firm and to help foreign companies enter and excel in the Japanese market. Although most of the major American corporations have entered and built their presences in Japan a long time ago, there are many small and medium-sized American companies who have no idea about their potential in the Japanese market or any international market. Yet there are few resources in Japan with enough industry expertise, communication skills, international network, and management skills to help. This is where I want to contribute.

　　To attain the most flexibility in multinational consulting, my long-term goal is to take over my father’s business and expand it to offer more services. About fifteen years ago, my father launched CoTech International, Inc., which files and settles international intellectual property cases and runs a search database for Madrid Protocol, an international trademark protocol. I would like to combine the company’s current service of intellectual property transactions and research with a consulting service to help clients enter foreign markets.

　　I am impressed with HBS’s focus on developing global business leaders, analyzing successful businesses through case studies, and building an international student body. An HBS education will offer me an objective view of the characteristics of a successful business, by learning different cases of multinational businesses in an academic environment with a world-class faculty and state-of-the-art facilities. At the same time, I believe that my bicultural bilingual background and experiences would be a great contribution to the school in creating an interesting and international student body. It may be too late to be a pioneer for large businesses in Japan, but with an HBS education under my belt, I can become a Japanese pioneer in expanding international business opportunities for small businesses.
